It was such an incredible experience. All I could say was "my baby, my baby, Joseph, Joseph Alvaro" over and over again when they put him on my chest. The rough part was after he was born because he had to spend his hospital stay by the NICU in the intermediate care for some breathing issues and for elevated bilirubin. I don't remember too much chronologically yet, so I'll have to write my birth story with the help of my doula and Tommy soon, but I will say that natural labor was not bad at all! I know it was all the prayers, the help of my doula and Tommy, and my being so ready to finally meet this babe after dreaming about this moment for so many years! Bring on the pain was my attitude- I'll endure anything to hold my baby in my arms!
And that's exactly what I've been doing since I brought him home! Schedule? What schedule? My baby is my new schedule!
Tommy started his 3L(--- last year of law school!) the day after Joseph was born- talk about a crazy week that was! But he is doing so well balancing it all. When he comes home, it's to be a dad, and my heart just melts seeing my boys napping and hanging out together.
We are still in awe of this wonderful gift from Heaven and loving every minute of being a family.
